Piano Concert- Chilean Pianist Claudio Espejo
Friends of Wood Library proudly sponsors a benefit piano concert on May 31, 7 - 8:30 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY. All proceeds will support Wood Library. Claudio Espejo is a Chilean, award-winning pianist and teacher based in Pennsylvania. He earned his D.M.A. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Michigan and holds an M.M. and a B.M. from the Eastman School of Music. Claudio is the Director of the Piano Program at Cab Calloway School of the Arts and the musical director at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Delaware. Claudio is an international performer who has performed in the United States, South America, and across Europe, including Poland and Estonia. Latvia, Lithuania, and Spain. Music has always been a profoundly spiritual experience for Claudio, igniting an interest in opening audiences and his students to mindfulness, music, and performance. As a teacher, he works to engage people of all ages in the beauty of classical and popular music. In this benefit concert, Claudio will help us explore the music of the Romantic period. Romanticism focuses on expressing emotions, and the music that Claudio will perform will present both sides of the spectrum of feelings: quiet and intimate, and public and thunderous. The concert will feature works by Chopin and Clara Schumann and some original compositions by Claudio. Tickets are $22 in advance or $25 at the door. All tickets include light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the performer at a reception after the concert.
