Workshop: Bird Carving--Chickadee
Join us for a relaxing weekend of creativity and craftsmanship at the Cumming Nature Center. Participants will explore carving techniques by carving and painting a chickadee bird! Chickadees usually weigh less than 1/2 an ounce, but they are tough, local birds who don’t migrate for the winter. They stay in the area and require 20x more food through the winter to survive than in the summer. And although chickadees often feed from bird feeders, they obtain over 75% of their winter food from natural sources! This class is suitable for both beginner carvers and more experienced carvers. Students are welcome to bring their own carving knives if preferred, otherwise all tools and materials will be provided.
