DESCRIPTION:Week 4 -BEETLES to BEES Slip CastingJoin us for our "Friday Night Fun" pottery series\, where we explore different handbuilding techniques every week! Students who sign up for all 4 sessions will have their glazing fees waived. Slip casting is a process used to make intricate figurines. Molds of beetles and bees will be our motif in learning this process in clay. Linda will teach you how the liquid form of clay\, called slip\, can be poured into a mold to create a 3D shape. After the slip has set\, or "casted"\, the mold is taken away to leave behind a beetle or bee! From here you will apply underglazes to create the color for your beetle or bee\, paying close attention to their tiny\, delicate features. All levels are welcome to join\, ages 18+. The cost of this class includes 2 lbs. of clay. Additional clay is available for purchase. The cost of the firing fee and glazing fee depends on the size and shape of your project.
