SUMMARY:Kids Pottery: Washington Monument Replica with Linda LaRock
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States with this fun pottery project! Did you know that the Washington Monument is more than 555 feet tall and sits on a square base of just over 55 feet? Its design was inspired by Egyptian obelisks\, and at one time it was the tallest structure in Washington DC. The monument was made to honor George Washington\, one of our nation's founders and its 1st President. But how was this constructed out of marble and steel? We will take a look at how the monument was constructed\, then make a much smaller obelisk using the same principles of design and construction. All levels are welcome to join\, ages 8-14.
