Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States with this fun pottery project! The rose is our National flower and is tied to some of the most important events in a person’s life. It signifies mourning, love, and affection. During this class, you will learn how to build a rose petal by petal. Starting with a very thin, soft slab of clay, you will cut out each leaf. Then, leaf by leaf, you will roll them and sculpt them into a rose. This practice is very similar to the process used in creating paper or tissue flowers. If you so desire, you may add a colorant to your clay instead of glazing it. At the end, you will learn how to attach your rose to a small, shallow bowl (already provided). Once completed, this bowl can be used decoratively or as a tea bag saucer. All levels are welcome to join, ages 18+. The cost of this class includes 2 lbs. of clay. Additional clay is available for purchase. The cost of the firing fee and glazing fee depends on the size and shape of your project.
