POSITION SUMMARY
Provide routine individualized healthcare such as non-sterile dressing changes, and applying
topical medications to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities at the patient's
home or in a care facility. Monitor or report changes in health status. May also provide personal
care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of patient.

HHA basic rate: $18/Hr
***Rates may vary per location/contract/per diem/travel/Shift urgency***

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor or case manager.
  • Provide patients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles.
  • Assist with bathing, grooming, and dressing patients.
  • Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing, and ironing laundry, cleaning, or assisting with their personal care.
  • Entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert.
  • Plan, purchase, prepare, or serve meals to patients or other family members, according to prescribed diets.
  • Check patients' pulse, temperature, and respiration.
  • Provide patients and families with emotional support and instruction in areas such as caring for infants, preparing healthy meals, living independently, or adapting to disability or illness.
  • Perform a variety of duties as requested by client, such as obtaining household supplies or running errands.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  •  Completion of a training program and certificate required
  • 6 months of similar experience
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient care. This includes patient needs assessment and meeting quality standards for services.
  • Ability to monitor patients to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision and arm-hand steadiness accurately
  • Ability to be empathetic with patients; ability to maintain confidentiality

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to talk or hear.
The incumbent frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or
controls. The incumbent is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms;
and stoop, kneel, crouch. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate.
